El Vez

May, 2005

A fixture on the Los Angeles music scene for nearly 20 years, "El Vez" (aka Robert Lopez) is a modern multicultural hybrid of Americana and Mexicano, "a thinking man's Elvis" who conveys the Chicano experience through the songs of Elvis. Politically aware and armed with a sharp sense of humor, El Vez's songlist includes his own versions of the standards of rock repertoire such as "Say It Loud, I'm Brown and I'm Proud," "Misery Tren," "Hurraches Azules," and "Viva La Raza."
