Latino Arts and the Latino Arts Strings Program is pleased to offer a selection of summer workshop offerings for the broader community. Workshops are available for every age and skill level.

Latin American Guitar For Adults

Mondays and Wednesdays, 5 - 7 p.m.
June 18 - July 20 (No class July 2 & 4)

In this guitar class, students will have the opportunity to develop basic guitar technique—chords and strumming—through the use of Latin-American music. Students will learn various rhythms, such as cumbia, ranchera, bolero, trova, and others. We will also review basic music theory and foundational information about the guitar.

Magical Frida: Exploring Surrealism Through Still Life Painting

Adult Session: July 23 - 25, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Family Session: August 6 - 8, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Using still life paintings by Mexican surrealist Frida Kahlo as inspiration, participants will explore surrealism and create their own surrealist still life inspired by the life, color pallet, and works of Kahlo. This hands-on class touches on basic drawing skills, color theory, and composition. Participants will take home their own surrealist still life at the end of the class.
