Pistolera

November, 2011

Pistolera unites the accordion-driven Mexican folk music aesthetic with electrifying pop-rock intensity to generate an original brand of latin pop-folklorico. Impassioned positivity runs through the group’s songs, which bring the topics of love, independence, and cultural issues to the dance floor. The four-piece band released their third full length album, El Desierto y La Ciudad [The Desert and The City], in July 2011 and demonstrate both the strength of bandleader Sandra Velasquez’s songwriting and the depth of Pistolera’s rich sonic palette.
