Luces de Raíz Negra - Manuel Gonzalez

Luces de Raíz Negra

By Manual González de la Parra | March, 2007

A photographic display of the African presence in Mexico, this exhibit brought focus to the deep African roots that exist in Latin America. The pieces demonstrated the artists' refined ability to observe and describe via this visual language of photography, bringing the viewer face to face with his subjects. González de la Parra's exhibit contemplates the day-to-day life of people in two villages, Coyollilo and Tumaco, Mexico. He shares their environment, their hard work, and the ways in which they rest, love and have fun. Born in Mexico, González de la Parra studied photography at the University of Veracruz and has studied photography and has shared his photos and exhibitions around the world.
