George Ancona: Photos and Stories

By George Ancona | October, 2004

An award-winning children's book author and photographer, George Ancona, shares his pictorial stories of his Mexican heritage and life in different cultures. The exhibit showcased his creative and heartfelt photos, including those that depict the traditions of Day of the Dead. In addition, local and regional artists displayed their ofrendas, or altars, that honor and celebrate the lives of the deceased. Ofrendas, as they are called, are created throughout Latin America on the Day of the Dead as a way to celebrate the life of those they have lost.
