Expansive Threads

Curated by Edra Soto

March 2 – June 9
Latino Arts Gallery

Opening Reception: Friday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m.

Opening Reception Special Honoree: Join us in recognizing Ellen Bartel, outgoing President and CEO of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA) for her years of dedication and commitment to female students and their futures.

This exhibition features a group of contemporary Latina American artists who incorporate the language of fiber arts into their practice. Through materials or concepts, the formal models denoted as fiber arts are being challenged by incorporating non-traditional materials, forms of display, or discourses. Similar to fiber arts, this group of artists creates work that emphasizes the aesthetic and conceptual value of the work over its utility.

Featured Artists:

Denise Treizman, Victoria Martinez, Johanna Moscoso, Melissa Leandro, Dianna Frid, Diana Gabriel, Maria Gaspar, Nora Maite Nieves, Nayda Collazo Llorens, Brianna Lynn Hernandez Baurichter, and Valerie Moreno

Café con Arte: Wednesday, March 28, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., register here.

Exhibitions in the Latino Arts Gallery are open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for a donation of $1.
